Summer
nature holidays - 7 -
Sassenfjord
Off-season beauty.
This is a voyage of discovery
to experience the Arctic, either at its time of
awakening at the beginning of the summer (holiday
in June) or during its September sleepiness when
you will become immersed in the mystery and melancholy
of autumn. From coastal navigation in kayaks to
short hikes, this trip focuses on amazing nature.
Two holidays –
two different seasons
June :
Experience all the beauty of the start of summer,
when the abundance of marine birds and their incessant
comings and goings disturb the torpor of the peaceful
ice floe, nestling at the bottom of the fjords.
A world of blue and white, of snow and ice, this
is a vision of the Polar world as you will have
imagined it under permanent daylight. This is
an ideal trip for those who are interested in
Arctic fauna.
September :
Experience the soft autumn light, a subtle blend
of red and white under a carpet of snow covering
the mountain tops. This alternating daylight and
clear darkness plunges the landscapes into an
extraordinary romanticism. This is possibly Spitzbergen’s
most fascinating season if you are willing to
serenely accept the climactic condition, which
can sometimes be harsher than in summer. If you
like to experience strong emotions, this trip
is a must.
