- Will we see polar bears ?

The chance to see polar bears during the cruise (in the Bay of the King’s itinerary) is quite high. Polar bears are generally present in the north of Spitzbergen but climactic conditions don’t always allow the boat to get too near to the coast.
Risks encountered when meeting bears on the ground are quite low. However, we have flares and alarms to scare them away during a possible ‘visit’, and also high-calibre weapons to defend ourselves if necessary.

As far as the ski trek on the East coast in spring is concerned, there is a likelihood of meeting the lord of the ice, but our trip is not based around this chance. Luck will be the only real factor in play.
