Northern Lights

Itinerary (1)

Day 1 :
Fly from Paris to Longyearbyen.

Day 2 :
Visit of Longyearbyen, the very Norwegian town of the Far North. Visit of Longyearbyen Gallery (slideshow about the Northern Lights). The first day is a progressive and calm acclimatisation, with a few open-air outings. Sky gazing to see the Northern Lights in the open air.

Day 3 :
A half-day initiation to the Inuit tradition – husky-teams (Greenlanders of Spitzbergen) near Longyearbyen in the Valley of Adventure (Advendalen) to go sledging in the big, white, starlit desert.
Visit of Longyearbyen museum.
Sky gazing.

Day 4 :
Half day of initiation of ski near Longyearbyen in the Valley of Adventure (Advendalen). Warm clothes are provided to enable you to snowbike with complete peace of mind. Excursions are made to the high plains and the glacier that overlooks Longyearbyen, with a magnificent view of the city lights.
We make igloos and a camp – with the possibility of sleeping on site for those who wish to. Return to Longyearbyen for those who don’t wish to camp out.

Day 5 :
Last day in Longyearbyen. Possibility of a trip on the other bank of the fjord – we cross the floes on ski or on foot – there is a total distance of 8 to 10 km to go to the old town of Longyearbyen, which was built at the beginning of the century. View over the local area surrounded by mountains. Last evening spent in restaurant in Longyearbyen.

Day 6 :
Fly from Longyearbyen to Paris.
